Our School

Nearby, our students get to experience what we call our natural labs. We're nearby the Flathead river, there's a creek behind the school, and we take every opportunity to experience the diversity of nature in and around the valley.

Jeff Pernell and Stephanie Pernell have each earned Masters of Education degrees from the University of Nevada. In addition, both hold certification as Class One teachers in Montana State.

Stephanie Pernell brings her broad background in elementary school and middle school teaching to Flathead Valley Montessori Academy. She has extensive experience in literacy education and has focused on authentic reading assessment as well as thematic discovery-based curriculum. Having been an adjunct faculty member in Teacher Education at the University of Nevada, she now currently supervises student teachers in the Department of Education at the University of Montana. Stephanie continues her love of teaching and her love of learning, bringing additional skills and certification to our Montessori School.

As Flathead Valley Montessori's educational advisor and administrator, Jeff Pernell brings a broad background in education, business, and education based technology to the school. Additionally, he has enjoyed teaching at both the middle and high school levels. As one of the founding class members of the Kalispell Montessori program in the sixth grade, Jeff's life was impacted forever. "The Montessori experience was so profound for me at that age, I feel compelled to offer our youth that same opportunity for growth and to really learn to love learning."
